CLINICAL COUNSELOR JOB DESCRIPTION
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
The Clinical Counselor is responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plan, directing facility therapy (group, individual and family) utilizing best practices and maintaining fidelity of treatment models for adults and adolescents. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of group and individual sessions and all treatment activities as well as clinical service reviews. Keep abreast of alternative treatment methods including best practices for treating the mental health population. Maintain licenses and/or certifications as required by PA Department of Health. Participate in agency and staff meetings. Position meets productivity expectations relating to billing and administrative duties.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or similar human services field.
2. Minimum 1-2 years experience working with adults and or adolescents with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders.
3. Experience facilitating individual, group and family therapy.
4. Experience with mental health modalities and best practices in Behavioral Health.
5. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
6. Strong interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work with a diverse population
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plan, directing facility therapy (group, individual and family) utilizing best practice curriculum and maintaining fidelity of treatment models.
2. Keep abreast of alternative treatment methods including best practices for treating the co-occurring population and implementing trauma informed care.
3. Therapeutic Program development and implementation to enhance quality care within behavioral health.
4. Demonstrates competence in mental health disorders treatment including client evaluation, counseling techniques and family therapy.
5. Takes initiative to assess skills and interests and seek development activities that match needs.
6. Anticipates and implements crisis intervention services.
7. Adheres to safety agency practices and policies as needed.
8. Maintain licenses and/or certifications as required.
